Well, as I said in the topic, asterisks shouldn't be counted, when the lenght of the search terms is counted towards the minimum words lenght.

e. g. if your minimum words length is set to 3 and a user searches for *a* you'll get timeouts or 'Allowed memory size of xxxxxxx bytes exhausted'-error or 'mysql error: Lost connection to MySQL server during query' and so on.

So I suggest to ignore them, when checking the words length.

Sorry, but: No one?

As I said: This could cause timeouts and fatal errors, when such searches are performed.

Well, it's not that i disagree with you, but since the vB2 Suggestion forum is now closed, you get the picture right?
They are only fixing bugs, the vB2 development, AFAIK, is dead.

Well, in my eyes it it a bug, cause it causes errors.

I fixed this in vB2 at the same time as I did for vB3 - the fixed version will be in vB 2.3.0 final, along with a few other bug fixes since the release candidate.

Unless the front page of vBulletin is advertising a "50% off dead VB2 - no further development condition applies" deal then what are you talking about? VB2 is THE latest product you have available, it is THE latest product new customers are buying, and it is THE latest product we can renew... you're selling us all a dead product? If VB2 was dead because VB3 was coming shortly sure, that makes sense, but VB3 has been coming for over a year.

Not a complaint about service (QUALITY development takes time, so take as much as you need), just annoyed at the attitude in the mean time.

Chris that was a comment from another customer and not from a developer.
Bug fixing has been our priority since 2.2.0 and each release after that has been purely maintence. We will not ignore bugs that exist in the current version of vBulletin.
