Spent a long time trying to find an answer to my question, here, but to no avail. So, here I am...

When I used to run UBB, I was able to have a forum where only a select number of people were able to start a new topic, and any registered user was able to reply. Well, I've attempted to do this in vB, but the forum shows up as locked, and even those with New Thread permissions aren't able to post.

Any help will be graciously appreciated.

*Compares to vB 2*
Yep, that's a pain.

Create new usergroup ("New Group") and move people into "New Group".

User groups and permissions->Modify Forums.
For each group that can normally post (registered for example), deny them new thread access to that forum.

If it doesn't work, for "New Group", physically give them access to post new threads in that forum

That seems like the way to go about it, but I just tried it again. Even though I have the Registered Users group set to NOT able to start a new thread, vB completely ignores that and allows anyone to post.

Quite annoying... :p
