Thank You,
Paul Well, all I can say is that it's evolved quite a lot since your previous versions.;)

It doesn't look all that yaXay'ish to me... personally, I think The Hot Web's category headers are done a lot better and cleaner than yaXay's, and apart from the table thingy in the footer, it is looking quite original.

Some of the graphics are actually stolen from yaxay, on the postbit I saw at least 2 buttons plus some graphics near the botton. The new thread/post reply buttons are stolen.

Thanks all for your comments, I am sick of hearing it's "yaxayish" but hey you are entitled to your own opinion. Odil, I have no clue what you are talking about, can you please post the buttons you think look exactly like yaxay's?
Thanks,
Paul

Odil I don't think so -- the yaXay buttons have more of a 3D look to them, and the colors are different as well. IMO, that looks different enough, but to each his/her own.:)

When I said Yaxayish, I meant similar to not a direct copy. It is like you can tell a Ravio design from a mile away. They don't even need the "Designed by Ravio" logo on the bottom because there isn't much differentiation between them.

When I saw this site for the first time, the first thing that popped into my mind was "Hmmmm... Looks sorta like Yaxay". It wasn't "Hmmmm... They stole Yaxay's graphics and copied their design.". And yes there is a difference betweem the two statements.

The fact that you recreated several things but in differnet manners gives it that "yaxay look"... it's not stolen or anything (OBVIOUSLY)...

and when you are inspired from a certain design so much you should expect these sort of comments.

Looks good, and I too am endlessly sick of people saying any graphical vB skin looks like Yaxay. Corey from Ravio is obviously an immensely talented designer and a major pioneer in the vB skinning community but anything with bevels, hard lines, and sharp angles isn't a "YAXAY RIP DOOD".

Corey wasn't the first person to use those elements and he certainly won't be the last, yes I see many designs that are inspired, yes some losers have directly ripped him and other good designers, and yes some inspiration is a bit "too" inspired and looks like a lame copy, but in my opinion Paul's skin is original and quite nice.

People (especially non-designers) don't seem to understand that just because one design shares the same elements (such as line weight, angles, even colors) as another it doesn't mean that it is at all ripped or even inspired by the original. The web is a very limited medium, we are limited to the RGB pallette and the unit of the "pixel".

Ok, I'm done ranting. Nice skin, Paul, keep it up.

Subtilize Media And some of us should read the entire thread before ranting. I never said it was a rip, I said my first impression was it was similar to Yaxay.

So go ahead and rant and be inspired. I personally don't wish to see the web homogenized like this and will try and do different things on my sites.

Yours looks nice. It has what I call the "Neo-Anime Tech" look to it since it has the kind of graphics Anime sites tend to have.

I really like the layout of The Hot Web forums, when it comes down to it, it is a very clean, easy to use and navigate design.
