I have just finished building my server, its a
Intel Pentium4 2.5g ghz, 1gig ram, and a Intel Pentium P4 2.5ghz 512mb ram.

A good friend of my dad owns a data center, so I will be hosting it there on dedicated t3 lines for low cost.

Now what i would like to know is, what o/s is good for webhosting (just 5 very traffic sites) the 2 servers will support the 5 sites, and I will be setting up another one soon dedicated for an e-commerce site soon, so I would like to learn all I can here. I have setup servers before, but on Win2k o/s, I wish to go into Linux/Unix Based servers.

Thanks

Redhat Linux 7.3, or FreeBSD using Cpanel at http://cpanel.net/ or Plesk http://plesk.com/

Just go for a skelaton Linux install and compile your own Apache, PHP and mySQL from source. It will take a maximum of fifteen minutes to fully configure.
