wow, that looks just like one of the screenshots posted at the beta site, could that also be the possible long awaited style?

Floris
Sun 24th Nov '02, 9:05am
Why is everybody so suprised? Didn't Kier once posted a screeny of the admin control panel waaaay before the alpha? I think so, I also remember a nice thread about the 'option' button - which seems to be missing here

And ofcourse the Looks of it totally do NOT matter. As it is just a style sheet .. more importantly are the features and functions and options and tweaks and usability and other improvements to the backend that are more interesting to me.

I just wonder why they don't take precautions and htaccess/passwd the directories?

I wish I could have the vB3 ACP with my vB2 forum :(

!!!

I'm mostly interested in that template editor! Hopefully once vB3 is released, I will have enough knowledge of PHP to be able to "copy" code and create hacks for vB2 which implement the same kind of idea :D

I just got done hacking in 80 hacks so upgrading just isn't an option :p

The usergroup and settins looks quite nice...

But the template editor looks far to complicated and also i can't stand the colors of the admin cp with all those horrible gradients..

Just my opinion :)

We have 65k atm (yay, hit it a few minutes ago), and some 766 users in the "banned" usergroup (can't remember atm if that includes the ~340 in our banlog).

All in all, i'd say it's a rather normal banned/registered ratio... but then there's the days when you feel you want to ban them all... :p ;)

If i was new and looking for a forum software the admin cp looks foul and newbies dont kno how to play with the cp.css or whatever the filename will be called in vb3 :)

Also yes im sure i'll understand how the template system works but even still there are newbies who still dont know how the proper template system works! God knows what they'll do with this new one... but i'll have to wait and make my judgements when i get to play with the software :)

I personally think it's quite nice. It's only an admin cp, as long as it's easy to navigate and use that's all I care about. It could be neon green for all I care, or maybe pink ;)

Everything is blue. At least one other color would at least balance it a little. I also dislike the 3d edging of the tables.

However, no real point in criticizing it as we can all change it so easily anyways.

I agree, but it doesn't bother me that much because it can easily be changed. The only thing I don't like about the new template editor is that you absolutely can't edit more than one template at the same time. Without openning the same editor in multiple windows and then navigating to the right template, that is.

The Admin CP style is final, it's the front-end that's missing a design.

That is ridiculous

About a million people have requested such a feature for vb3 and/or a hack for vb 2.2.x

Why hasn't it been included?

I even coded the template editor to behave like the vB2 system if you want it to.

Whether you like the CP style is really irrelevant, when you see the new stuff and the improvements that I and the rest of the dev team have put into the control panel you will be complelled by a mysterious force to upgrade to vB3 and to wonder how on Earth you worked with the old system. Even now, when I go back to fix vB2 bugs, I am astonished by how clunky the vB2 control panel seems in comparison to the new vB3 system...

vB3 is almost how I wanted vB2 to be, but I didn't get my place on the dev team in time to achieve it. You will love administering vB3, and vB4 will be f***** awesome.

Actually I was sympathising with him, since in Australia pissed means drunk as well. I was saying that the 'damn backwards Americans' not understanding anything other than their own terminology is irritating.

Your post is almost another example of this, since you assumed that I didn't know first that he's from Britain, and second that Australian/English terminology is very similar.

Is there something wrong with that? I told my admin team to register here so I could add them to my account as at least one of them does a lot of technical work on my forums.

I can see the topic got a little off-topic, but ya where are the screenshots? Can someone re-attach them or something?

them images are for the vb3 admin cp, meaning if there wasn't a vb3 there wouldn't be them images, so you do need vb3 to make a good login screen.:p

vB3 has to exist, sure, but you still don't need it, only the images. ;)
