well as you can see [url] tag is not working as well. I doubt this is a bug, very likely by design, but frankly I'll miss that tag, it was a good one. :p At least please provide a replacement in the conversion script, otherwise old posts with this tag will be broken..

Can this be confirmed? Perhaps the confusion on this was because Quick Reply wasn't set to auto-parse url's and now it is.

i.e.

www.vbulletin.com

i.e.

www.vbulletin.com I think he means that the tag isn't phrased in old posts, so when used links are messed up:

IE: http://www.vbulletin.com/forum/showthread.php?threadid=59336

Ps. moved from http://www.vbulletin.com/forum/show...p;postcount=129 ([url=http://www.vbulletin.com/forum/showpost.php?postid=374822&postcount=129)]here

I'm not sure what anyone is going on about in this thread... is whatever the problem was still a problem?

I still run into this problem. One recent example is here:
http://www.vbulletin.com/forum/showpost.php?postid=393289&postcount=1

As you can see it's thread's first message so the problem can not be related to quick reply.

Also this post can help you track the bug:
http://www.vbulletin.com/forum/showpost.php?postid=395429&postcount=3

It's interesting, because there are different URLs overthere and some are parsed, some are not.

For example I can not make this tag parse:
This thread (http://www.vbulletin.com/forum/showthread.php?threadid=58941)

While this parses ok:
[/url]]This thread (http://www.vbulletin.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?forumid=15[url=http://www.vbulletin.com/forum/showthread.php?threadid=58941)

Edit: lol it didnt parse here now!

Right... I've worked out how this occurs.

Basically, using the WYSIWYG editor you can sometimes accidentally add links with no textual content... essentially this kind of thing:

[ url=http://linkurl ][ url=http://linkurl ][ /url ]link text[ /url ]

This causes the outer [ url ] tag to not be parsed.

I have put in functionality to allow you to edit the HTML source of your posts in the WYSIWYG editor for the time being until i work out a solution.

also, some things arnt quoted ( border, alt in img tag ) That is the code generated by Internet Explorer, not me. There's absolutely nothing I can do about it, nor does it matter, as the rubbish HTML is converted into vBcode before being stored in the database.

It does what is needed and nothing more, so although it would be nice if it generated perfectly formatted strict XHTML, I'm not going to curse Microsoft for building a tool that does the job it's designed to do perfectly...
