If you move into a word and select bold, the entire word goes bold. If you put your cursor before a word, press bold, type some text (no spaces though), then turn bold off, the text you just typed loses its bold.

This is standard behavior, and there's nothing I can do about it - Open up a copy of MS Word and you'll see that it behaves in exactly the same way.
