ok, this suggestion is sort of like my other one, but not really. I have 3 categories on my site (one for each game covered) but I plan to add several more in the future. I want to beable to have mini-admins or super mods or "Category Moderators", but only for 1 category, not for the entire forums. I know I suggested this before and it was actually considered to be put into vb3. But I think it would be great if this feature could be taken even further. I know tons of people want it. By further I mean, basically a "Mini-Admin" or "Category Admin" would have their own control panel and they would beable to perform many features, but only within the category they were an admin for. They wouldn't beable to do anything like change styles or templates and stuff, but they would beable to do the forum stuff... like:

- Add announcements
- Add/Edit/Delete Moderators
- Add/Edit (not delete) Forums & Descriptions
- Strip Polls
- See who voted
... and other things

They wouldn't beable to edit user info though, or avatars (or anything else that would effect other categories). I think this would be the perfect addition to the user groups. Then they could look something like this:

Moderator (permissions only in selected forum)
Category Moderator (permissions only in selected category)
Super Moderator (permissions for entire forum)
Administrator (everything!!!)

I really hope this is added in a future version of vb3 or atleast considered. Or better yet, I hope it already IS in vb3 :D

Comments?

skuz It has been stated before that this will not be in the 3.0 release.

However, you can probably do a lot of that with moderator permissions and the mod control panel without hacking.

Is a feature that I think should be considered by devs.
Basically, in your Admin CP, you decide what extra features you want to enable in Mod CP.

Couldn't you just add the user as a mod of the category (which would make him mod of all the below forums) and then just set everything to Yes when adding him/her as a mod?

The problem is lack of options, it needs to be more customizable, being able to choose which options Super Mods or Mods get... for instance, even Super Mods don't have much power unless you give them access to control panel. Also, i'd like to see the ability for all the small things to be seperate also. For instance, in vb2, you can't give moderators the ability to make threads "Sticky" without giving them the power to move/copy threads. This causes a problem for me because I have private forums which I give to clan owners and I want to give them the sticky function, but I don't want to give them move/copy (otherwise they could move threads to other forums or copy threads to private forums, ect.) This is another problem I face with vb2, which i'm hoping will be fixed in vb3.
