Bulletin board maintenance difficulty level...

I have an idea that surrounds around the bulletin board/forums/ community model. If there are minimal # of forums and very little or no moderation, how much maintenance is involved? Is it a turnkey operation except for when you add forums or moderate? Please advise. Thanks!!!

vBulletin can run unattended forever as long as the host is good. Of course you should do backups and other such things but that's easy.
