When I first sign up and pay for vbulletin.. they give me a password right?

Can I change that password immediately after it's been given to me?

No. All customer passwords are randomly generated 12 character strings. We keep it this way so the passwords cannot be guessed.

well that sucks for me.

that really sucks.. how hard would it be to let me set my own password after i've paid for my board?

The passwords are automatically generated. To allow you to reset the password would require a re-write of the system.

Whats wrong with this system?

Why can't I just type in the password they give me.. and then personalise it?

Nevermind forget it.. this is stupid lol.

Umm... Because the system doesn't have the functionality to do it. The customerid's and passwords are generated off of specific triggers so that the chances of their being two identical matches are very low.

It isn't something that was done to be stupid. It is to protect the security of our servers including your licenses and personal information.

You can use one of the free boards available out there and then import to vBulletin when you decide to change

Oh cuz I don't have a credit card and someone else has to purchase the board for me...

Is that really possible to import all the data from say.. ikonaboard to vbulletin????

Nah I'm not into that... than i'd have to build 2 boards..

I just gotta get my vbulletin board somehow a.s.a.p.

You can always request a change in passwords after you have your license. We'll then generate a new randonm password for you. The fact that you cannot choose this password is has absolutely no bearing on your ability to purchase and use the software.

No worries though Nova. Just keep a print out of your userloginformation stashed in a vault and lock em up :)

Then when you need it you can go and get it. Plus you get occasional eBulletins from Jelsoft that also has your loginformation so that if you have forgotten you can see what it is :)
