Hi I run a very large community on a shoestring, to put it bluntly. I have tested the limits of UBB flat files with homegrown hacks and am now looking at MySQL backend solutions.

1) Can vB, as with UBB, run multiple implementations of the forums while sharing a member database? i.e. A user registers once but can post to five different boards? without having to log in over and over?

2) What is the biggest vB board out there? I currently have about 6M page views a month and would love to see a comparable site. I know this is a tall order. As with UBB, it looks like with vB the performance goes up as you shut off features.

1) Not without a hack. vBulletin has an excellent hacking community at http://vbulletin.org

2) I would recommend you take a look at http://www.vbulletin.com/forum/showthread.php?s=&threadid=47430
