Well nearly, but it did require learning regexs, mod_rewrite, and other goodies in two hours after no hacks at vB.org would work.

Just please let me know if viewing forums and threads works, and more importantly, if the URL ends with .html. If everything works fine then I'll eventually post on how you can do this yourself (make your forums spiderable).
The only thing I've noticed not working properly is Who's Online but that's expected.

very nice hack. I don't notice much different about this hack than fastforward's hack? Not that there needs to be anything different, just wondering what i'm missing :/ Also, filburt, if you want google to spider your pages like that, you'll also need to take session id's out of pages. You can configure the session id's so they don't work just for googlebot... atleast it can be done easily on phpbb, not sure about vb. PM me if you like and i'll send you the code that was used on my phpbb to disable the session id's for mr. googlebot.

I have no idea why it's tacking sessionids onto the pages, I have to delve into the templates to see what's up.
What's different about fastfoward's hack? Mine works :D I never got his working on my host so I just ended up writing it myself. Also because the aliases are all in the same directory (FLOABT) you don't need that base url crap so no broken images. :)
It's not a hack because I didn't edit any of the PHP files but to get WOL working I'll have to :(

BTW, I like that, "Mr. Googlebot" :D

Uh, how are you people getting a ?s= tacked onto the URL? What links did you click? I logged out and I get the normal forumidxsessionx.html links without any ?s in them.

Okay, one final Q :D
SCSI: When you say no sessionids, do you mean not in the .html filename or not as ?s= in the URL? I know that URLs other than forumdisplay and showthread won't be parsed which is just fine...

Mr. GB is at the site right now but he fell asleep at forumhome, so something's up...

Okay, I get it: the WOL is showing the sessionhashes for some reason, but the actual users are still getting them in the filenames.
What I can do is just trash the sessionhash if the useragent is Mr. GB so he never sees them.
I hope you're enjoying the monologue :)

If you check now, it's probably gone from the index.

What does it mean when you get a 403 Forbidden error after you upload the .htaccess file?
