Hi Folks

I'm just about to purchase vBulletin after being asked to find out a little more about BBS software etc by a mate who I run his www site for - MAFC (http://gassor.co.uk)

We currently host this site in the UK using the excellent company - OneandOne Internet. Does anyone know of any forum that currently resides on their servers, or has anyone any experience of BBS's on OneandOne Internet.

I will post this question to them as well obviously but thought I would post here also...

Ta in advance ...

John

OneandOne provide a pathetic service to customer's on the Professional package if you want to use MySQL, they only offer 12-16 MySQL connections, and only provide 1 database.

I tried to migrate a vBulletin with a small community of about 30 regular concurrent users, and they were mainly turned away by the "too many connections" error. OneandOne said, yes that's right you'll need a dedicated server.

Well it's simply not on when a $9.99 service from Hostrocket wipes the floor with a European web company that boasts proudly of it's awards and claims in the description (on the professsional package) "no concurrent connection limits"

I'm not happy at all, as you can most likely tell...

I just received this brief reply from oneandone with regards to their poor support of dynamic content via MySQL: There is no where in the terms and conditions that it is written explicitly that you are only allowed 12 connections, if you are unhappy with this you will be entitled to a full refund of your money, if that is what you like. ThanksWhilst a full refund is fine it's an annoyance that I had wasted my time moving my vBulletin board and I would add that their instance of MySQL crashed every time I tried to back up my board so I could not migrate the community back to Hostrocket without losing some posts.
