Hello,
I would like to get informed on an issue I encountered with one of my scripts (is not actually a hack).

I created a performant interface that is used as a portal.
It performs with only 12 queries (11 as guest), 0.1seconds average page load time, due to optimized code and it's bundled with great features, like poll, pm's latest threads, etc... all coded by me.

The code uses vBulletin functions, so I stated clearly that the copyright must be shown as in any other pages from vBulletin.
Here it is my copyright note for people who can download the script at vBulletin.org:
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
1. You are NOT allowed to REMOVE or MODIFY the copyright text at the bottom of the page, or to ALTER in any way the URL links listed there.
First, vbHome (lite) uses vBulletin functions, so it's part of it. If you must keep the Jelsoft copyright at the bottom of your vBulletin forums, then it should be present also in vbHome (lite) page(s). The only part you can remove from the copyright is the vBulletin and vbHome (lite) version, same like in your forums.
If you paid the $600US fee to have the vBulletin copyright removed, then you have permission to remove also the vbHome (lite) text and link.
Second, is the time I consumed on this script to provide you with a free, reliable and performant piece of software. If you use it, all I ask in return is to leave the links intact.
Click here to see how it looks the copyright note at the bottom.

2. You are NOT allowed to REDISTRIBUTE the contents of the .zip file.

3. You MUST provide and update me with your URL as soon it changes.

4. You are allowed to add, remove or modify any part of the included code.
When you request a password, you need to include your site URL (where vbHome (lite) will be located). Once I read your request in the thread, I will Pm you the password.
In this way I can check if you removed the copyright and report you to Jelsoft for illegal activity.
Remember, I'm the author of the code, so the copyright belongs to me and Jelsoft.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------

Now, there are some sites who removed the copyright. I personally consider them as pirates and I would like you to recommend me how to fight agaist them.
For now, my script is password protected. The user must post a working URL where he(she) will install the script. So that helps alot.

But take a look at what I mean here (http://www.plurplanet.com/). This is an old version, 3.0 of my vbHome (lite) script.

To read more about my script, please visit this thread (http://www.vbulletin.org/forum/showthread.php?threadid=36756).
This is an important issue, related to vBulletin and my work also, so I need you to advice me with a solution asap.

Regards,
Floren Munteanu

floren its probably more appopriate to email this to john / james just add @jelsoft.com to the person you want or even send it to both.

1. I doubt they would want to post anything in a public forum
2. Many users will want to try and stick their 2 cents in with stupid suggestions.

Thank you Scott.
Hmm... the pirate, added back exacly the way it's suppose to be the copyright... because he just pm me to request a new version.
He stated that he never noticed the copyright issue.
Is funny how he remembered to place everything that way it suppose to be.

I tried to contact John, but he never answered to me. So I thought is the best way to ask here in the forums.

So regarding this... If you are using some type of portal to include stuff from vBulletin on your homepage, is it also necessary to have the copyright notice on that page as well? I've seen several sites that do have the copyright and several that don't...

PlurPlanet, removed again the vBulletin copyright, at the bottom.
URL: http://www.plurplanet.com

He now infringes both, my copyright and Jelsoft one.
Please, one of the administratos or piracy team contact him asap to restore the copyright, or to remove the script from the server.

He attempted several times to contact me and convince me to give him the latest version of my script. When he saw I refuse, he removed the copyright again, that he added temporarly, just to convince me he's of "good faith".

Please read contents of the discussion between the pirate and myself, here:

A) The vBulletin copyright is there.
B) That's not your script.

That's fine if that's the way you feel. As I said, I'm sorry for the mistake. I still have the unzipped file with the instructions, so I went back and looked over them to find out what copyright info was supposed to be in the footer template. I didn't notice it the first time as I simply created a footer template with my own copyright info. Either way, if that's your decision I will continue to use the version I have. Thank you for your work on the script.
If the script you use now is not my script, pm me the contents on your index.php file and I will see if it is or not true what you say.

You will either have to prouve me it's not my script, or remove it from your server.
You can use vbIndex instead my script, as an alternative, if you don't like the idea of my copyright.
