Which VPS plan should a vbulletin use if they get around 80 online user consistantly (according to vb's Who's Online) and max out around 125 users in the evenings?

VPS Server Specs are here:
http://www.venturesonline.com/hosting/vps.html

Or is dedicated needed for this type of board?

I have used host rocket before and had a ridiculous amount of problems including slow/ignored TT's, massive downtimes, one line responses from support which were unhelpfull etc.

You'll never see me go near them again.

Thanks for the recommendation all the same.. :)

I have also had very bad experiences with HostRocket. I was using phpBB version 1.4.x, I think, and had a very small number of users, and still, they asked me to switch to a semi-dedicated server. Of couse they blocked my site and I was pretty much obliged to go to the semi-ded package. Which didn't solve things, either. My site had a lot of downtime (I mean, A LOT) and the support people were not friendly or fast at all.

I'm never going back to them. Just my 2 cents.

geesh all these hostrockey problems, welp unfortunate for me the last vb forums I bought from someone was being hosting in hostrocket, I havent moved it yet. Im sure if I start to have problems like everyone is posting then I will move that forum to my own server's. So far there support has been a 10min turn around for me .

Have you looked at http://www.interland.net/ ?

Host rocket sucks.

Remarkable is high priced, you could get a dedicated for the same price.

Remarkable's VPS is not nearly as expensive as a VO VPS2. Rackshack's horror stories leaves something to be desired despite the great prices IMO, but VO's premium pricing in contrast to their great prices on shared server accounts, makes the VO VPS a very bad value proposition.

I would expect a 50Gig, 256MB guaranteed memory, for under $100 for a VPS to be reasonable given they're putting sometihng like 16 VPS2s on a single server.

I never said anything about using Rack Shack for a dedicated server.

Too bad VO doesnt off the v650 anymore. I am running my forum on it, only 60 members but another forum I go to is also on the v650 and it has about 500 members with maybe upwards of 50 or so members on at once and we both have had no problems.

We are both on the same server 'knockout" and we did experience some downtime last week while they had to do a hardware upgrade but other than that speed is great, service is great.

A lot less hassle than having to maintain a vps. But I think a vps 1 would suffice.

I have know of 3 forums who were with Hostrocket and had nothing but problems and all have moved on.

duh, the www in your profile.

either way it does not matter, just go to http://webhostingtalk.com/ and do a search on HR you will find numerous threads bashing them, and not one thread praising them.

they truley suck! they overload their servers, and their support techs are idiots.

Well thats not the forum on Hostrocket

Im sorry you had a bad experiece with hostrocket. I am aware of bashing threads about hostrocket. At the moment the forum thats on hostrocket server has 10 - 15 clients on it, they call it a semi-dedicated plan. What plan were you running when you was on hostrocket and how long has it been???

I'll tell you the problem with once a company gives you bad service.... You will NEVER go back there and you will tell everyone about it. A happy camper might tell a handfull of people about his experience, but an unhappy camper will tell the world.

I was with them 12 months ago. I could go on all day about the problems, but this thread is getting off topic now and to tell the truth I am no closer to finding a solution.

it's not just me that had a bad experience, there are hundreds, you can search the intetnet and find pages dedicated to how bad HR is, or you can read dozens of threads at webhostingtalk forums and find hundreds of people there to.

as Cloughie said, when a person has a bad experience with a business they tell many people about it.

Who are you using for a dedicated provider? Thx.
