What's Auto Generated Moderator?

Can someone please tell me what's the difference between Auto Generated Moderators and Regular Moderators.
I'm having difficulty getting this straight.
Can also someone please tell me what this (in the control panel) means
"allowsignatures
Yes No
Allow registered users to have signatures. Don't forget to update these templates: newtopic newreply editpost modifyprofile register"
Where am I supposed to update this, and what happenes without updating it?

When ever you add a moderator to a forum, vBulletin creates a new user group for this person to be in. These are the auto-generated groups.

There will be one for each moderator and underneath, there will be a forum listing for each forum they are assigned to. In order to change permissions you would do it on the individual "Auto-Generate" groups. In this way you could assign more experience moderators more permissions than new moderators.
