It's clearly a direct copy of vBulletin, and perhaps even vbPortal. Does the vBulletin team know about this?

It's not a copy of vBulletin (a look alike, though) and it's perfectly legal...

Has anybody taken a tour of the AdminCP? It is obvious that it is vB. And take it from someone that has used phpBB for awhile - it isn't phpBB.

Trust me - it isn't. I've been working with the code of phpBB for almost 2 years now.

Do you really think some guy went all out to make his board not only look like vB but to work like vB? There isn't one thing on this board that is phpBB. The use of quotes is a dead give away.

The web site came up when I was a Team Lead at phpBB and it was examined then - not phpBB. Granted, the guy is good, but not that good.

Hmm well quite possibly your right, and they were just lying to hide the fact that it is vbulletin :) . I talked to someone dealing with this issue another time and was assured it wasn't vbb. But seeing as your on the phpbb team, then i'll take your word for it. Although, when I looked at the admin cp and some of the code, it does not look like vbb.

Was on the team.

No, he has definitely changed some of the files around. If you look at some of the links, some of the .php don't match vB or phpBB.

The two big give-aways are the quote system and the split topic function. phpBB currently handles it the best. So, I can't imagine why he would re-code his board to act like vB.

It's one thing to recode a board if it is used for personal use only. But he is distributing his work. And funny how he is selling his board for $65 instead of $85. There are just too many similarities - something smells fishy.
