basicly a very nice style, but the graphics load is a bit high. Have you optimized the graphics size?

yep. Graphics have been cropped pretty much as small as they are going to get. It's a very complicated design. Plus it makes it a tad bit harder for people to rip.

well Paul, yes I did, but I think you've lost your say in most conversations considering if I did a search on yaxay in these forums most of it would be from you and your comments on "it looks like yaxay". The nav bar thing is just so tiny that I don't see how I could even change it more...

Ah ok i see your point of view now. You're not necessarily saying it looks like yaxay, but to you it's because it's graphic heavy (compared to your site anyway) that you deem it yaxay. Gotcha...well in that respect that I understand and I'd agree ;)

Looks like umpteen other forums. I see nothing distinctive about it at all.

It's technically good, but Paul's got a point about it having the Yaxay Look. Not that there's anything wrong with it, other than the fact that it's common.

Corey has a great talent. I wish on my best day I could produce graphics like him.

I just think there are about 80 boards out there now made by him and you can tell it instantly.

Yet, the simple (very little to no graphic manipulation sites; sort of like yours) you're in love with...hmmm ;)

It's not Paul, it's the style itself. If you can't see the similarities, that's another matter. For some of us it's a bit tiring to see the same old design scheme everywhere being heralded as the greatest look "EVAR!". No one is really putting these styles down--indeed they can be stunning--but they're too prevalent to be distinct. When everyone' forum is the same style, style becomes irrelevant.

All I see Paul doing is calling it like it is. You apparently don't like him telling you that your forum looks like "yaxay" (I'm not demonizing yaxay, but it's stuck now...), probably because you value your own look and identity...but if that's the case, why did you choose a look that's so common? There's nothing wrong with the style, but don't cry when people tell you they've seen it before.

And it's not going to stop. More people are going to use it because it's become trendy... "Hey Kids! Try 1nstant C00L! Just Add Orange!"

...but I think even there you missed his point. It's not that The Style In Question is just "graphic heavy", it really is because it looks like the Yaxay style. I noticed that when you first posted it, but didn't bother commenting on the confusion because it was pointless. But now you've gone and brought it up, darn it all. ;)

I don't think anyone's hounding you in particular, it's just that because GamersLive is a great example of that style, and pretty popular, there are frequent posts commending you on the style. But whenever people go on about how "it's the best thing 3vAR!" and "It's so UNIQUE!", you'll probably see other responses to the contrary. You'll have to live with that.

Anyway, you've done a great job, so I wouldn't be so defensive or feel so persecuted if I were you. GamersLive is one of the better looking forums around. But for a lot of people whose perceptions are often centered around vBulletin, it just doesn't stand out--they are a dime a dozen in regards to looks.

To other users who don't see these things all the time, this is entirely irrelevant. All they see is something unique and stylish. That's what matters, isn't it?
