Hi all,

Start nominating away.:) And please don't forget to second too. That makes the draw a bit more interesting.

Nomination guide lines

1. This month only 5 nominees will be accepted.
2. You can nominate your own board, but you must sit out a month before you can nominate it again.
3. If your board wins, it cannot be nominated again for a year.
4. If somebody else nominates your board the month after you nominated your own, the nomination will be accepted.
5.***Important!***Nominations will only be accepted for 4 days after the start of this thread. Deadline is 16:00Hours GMT on the 20th.
6. A good board is based on whatever makes you happy.;)
7. When you make a nomination please include the Board URL and maybe a reason why you like the site.
8. A nomination must be seconded by a non-biased person before it will be accepted as a nomination. That means the second must come from somebody who is not affiliated with the board being nominated. (I know this will be difficult to inforce but please comply.)
9. You can nominate as many boards as you'd like but please second only one or two. (This is not a definite rule and therefore won't be inforced. It is more like a polite request. I added it because the question, "How many boards can I nominate or second?" always seems to come up.)
10. All seconded Nominations recieved within the 4 days will be thrown into a hat and 5 final nominees will be pulled. This selection will be 100% random!

Shouldn't there be only 1 nomination or seconding allowed per person? Either you nominate one board, or you second one board, or you twiddle your thumbs until the vote.

It's a bit unweildly to allow people to nominate more than one. There should be a firm One-per-person, period. That's the usual practice for nominations in general.

Why? :confused:

Why couldn't somebody nominate 10 boards? It doesn't bother me and I have to tally all the nominations.:D The nominating procedure is supposed to be more in line with parliamentary procedure and as far as I know, one can make as many motions as one would like in parliament, but it is up to a second to get the motion passed.

So one person can nominate as many boards as they would like but should only second one or two.

Every user can put in a specified number of nominations/seconds via text boxes to input data and links to second forums.

Makes everything tons easier and orderly.:)

These aren't motions, they're nominations. You nominate that which you stand behind and support. Someone's going to vote for the 10 boards they nominated? I don't think so. Multiple nominations from one person weakens the worth of the nomination.

"Hey, I nominate everyone. And I second them all. Let's vote." Duh.

Allowing one person to nominate more than one forum is chaotic and nonsensical.

If anything, you could allow multiple seconding, since it makes sense that one person could see many worthy boards that deserve attention.

You lay value on the nomination and I lay value on the seconding. And I think I like my way since I introduced it. :p Unless you can come up with a better reason for changing the system other than "it's chaotic and nonsensical" , then it will stay as is.

I'm just telling you the way it is with nominations in the real world. If this works for you, then great, but it's nonsensical. If you don't care that it doesn't make sense, then that's great too. Common sense is that you nominate who you vote for -- the rule of thumb is that one person makes one nomination.

In this less formal arena, you can do whatever you want, but when things get all tangled up as it has in the past, you may want to reconsider revising your guidelines.

I'm was just giving you an idea of what would work smoother, and how these things work in every other nominating instance I've ever seen or participated in.

Anyway, back to the voting. There should be, what, a thousand nominations to go through now? ;) :D
