Which one would you consider to be the most unique board out there? Assuming that it was the first board with that style, and lots of people have ripped it afterwards, it should count as well :)

It's a great site, but by no means unique in terms of structure, layout, or purpose.
I think you can automatically write off any 3-column portal-like site from qualifying as "unique". That look is too prevalent.

What about my forums http://forums.games-guru.com I agree about ultrashock, that is one good style.

Begezus...
The forums being listed are good looking designs, but they're hardly unique.
One of my personal favourites is Kallisiti Digital Publishing (http://www.kdpublish.com/index.php). THAT is unique. It also happens to be one of the sweetest vB designs I've ever seen. Possibly the best.
(It's more in line with what I'm designing, so obviously I'm a bit biased. ;))
Carpetbombing a forum with 50kg Photoshop images does not make a forum unique, regardless of how good it may look.

That forum sure does have a unique design! Can't even tell it is using vBulletin, were it not for the message on the side.
However, the only drawback I can see to something like that is that it can be quite disorienting when reviewing topics. The comma-seperated list of topics, although very different, seems to be a navigational drawback.
Anyways, in context with this discussion, yes, that design is unique.:)

I know, aside from the cramped listings, I love it. Reminds me a bit of the problem SitePoint has with it's revamped home page. That sort of "paragraph" organization just doesn't work for me.
It's the rest of the KD site that really impresses me.

Yeah I know, I asked Corey for the psd for the nav so that I can make one, still haven't received it yet :( I'll probably have to use that alternate headers hack [you know where you see a certain header when you're a guest, and another when you're logged in/registered]

Maybe if we could see it we could give you our opinion.
Asking people to join up, not to mention throwing pop-ups at them, in exchange for their opinion is bad netiquette.

I have no affiliation nor feel I need the opinions of others to justify my thoughts. A question was posed for an individual opinion. I answered. No one had to visit that forum. In addition, I am an inactive (0-post) yet registered user to that forum. In which I had not realized it required registering before the forum can be viewed. Therefore I would like to say, I did not bombard you or anyone else with popups. Nor have I asked for a forum critique.
Thanks.

Not unique at all. Great graphics, but under those it's still pretty much the same vB as board X and board Y.

Was unique for about 15 minutes in that it was graphic intensive and huge page sizes.
Now every board in the world looks like it. Maybe you don't understand what the word unique means.

NOrmally I'd agree, but you also have to remember that yaxay was amongst the first sites to create vb design. So it lost its originality in your view in that you've seen how everyone else copies them. But they did pretty much start this trend. So it's unique in that it was amongst the first ;)

Sorry, vBulletin has been around a lot longer than yaxay.com. Most certainly not the first vb designs.

Well you have to remember that most "designs" just consisted of a different on and off icon and people sticking the design into their site design. Category headers and whatnot didn't develop to much later on.

Can you repeat that in English?

It was unique then.
It is not unique now.
That's all I was getting at. I wasn't disparaging or trying to take anything away from yaxay at all. I fully respect yaxay and especially c-prompt for everything they've brought to the vB community.
But it's importance is outside of the topic of this current thread.

Yup, you got it.
Maybe you need a refresher on the definition of unique (http://www.dictionary.com/search?q=unique) .

lol! Welp, according to the definition of unique, that means that designs can only be "unique" for so long ;) So you can never have a permanent uniquness.

Primary definition is: Being the only one of its kind.
Where do you get any implication of "amount of time"?
Give it up dude, your boards aren't unique. They may be nice and well made graphics, but they aren't unique.

Paul, it's official, you're an idiot. Was I even talking about me? No, you dumbass. I was replying to the little convo between Crego and the person that posted the definition of "unique".
No where in there was I even referring to my board. Damn, I knew you were an idiot, but not that much.
Get a life.
