What on earth is "kashida"? When I press Ctrl+F to search a page I see "Match kashida"... I think it's only there on WinXP, I don't remember seeing it with Win2000.

wtf? :P
screenshot please :o

I would assume you're using a localized version of XP, or a semi-localized.

The options that appear in my english version is "Match whole word only" and "Match case" (as well as the directional control).

Match case is for matching a certain casing.
eg searching for "Hey" and having it checked won't return any matches for "hey", "hEY" etc

Umm, I must say that "alef hamza" does sound good if it has a bit of ketchup on the side

Yeah, sounds like you have installed some middle eastern Charset... my father has the same options on his "NT4 arabic enabled", not in IE but in Word.

I do use Hebrew, so that might be it. Alef means the letter A in Hebrew, but I have no idea what hamiza means.
