I have setup Vbulletin on my SparcStation 20 with 32MB Ram. The good old pizzabox is running Redhat 6.2 with all the latest Apache, MySQL and PHP installed. It is also a great firewall and router for my cable connection. Lately, however, VBulleting began to take too much time while posting. I mean once you type up your message and hit post, it takes anywhere from 10 to 30 seconds to get posted. And I only have 16 registered users with 32 or so messages total and no more than 2-3 people being on all the time. Even though there is so little ram, there is very little disk activity going on on the server and when I top it, mysqld never takes up more 10% of the cpu. My guess would be that I need to tweak Mysql a bit and I would research on it, but I am moving to a different location in 10 days where I would not have cable or dsl for some time. So I decided to move the forums to f2s.com
Ive already setup a database account there, so that part is done. What precautions should I take when migrating the board, and can someone point me to some info on moving the database info over as well.
Has anyone tried f2s.??? How is it? is 5MB MySQL quota enough for a board that is fairly small right now and will not grow for a while(untill I build the main site). How easy would it be to migrate elsewhere once I outgrow it? Also how does one back up the database(and not trust the hosting company to do it for you) remotely as well as the board files itself... ANy advice will be appreciated
