"W3C has released the first public working draft of XHTML 2.0. 'XHTML 2 is a markup language intended for rich, portable web-based applications. While the ancestry of XHTML 2 comes from HTML 4, XHTML 1.0, and XHTML 1.1, it is not intended to be backward compatible with its earlier versions.' Some notable changes are the introduction of navigational lists (<nl>), sectional hierarchy with <section>, and the long-awaited deprecation of <br> in favor of <line>."

We've just about got vB 3 compatible with XHTML 1.0 (or 1.1, not sure) then they go and start 2.0 ;)
Kier would be the one to think about this as he is the HTML/design/interface person - though I would imagine we won't include this until it's at least a recognised standard if not a recommendation by W3C. I'd love to see how browsers handle <line> tags.

I understand that, it says 'draft' for a reason :P
But since vb3 is just in alpha, I thought .. maybe it is cool to at least check it out and keep an eye on it, would be great if 3.1 could be made compatible (and backwards for older browsers). If all the stories about the new template system and stuff is true, then implementing it afterwards (though takes some time) is fairly easy ./.
another 2 cents well spend

XHTML2it is not intended to be backward compatible with its earlier versionswhich means that until most everyone upgrades to a browser that supports XHTML2 (if you think trying to get people to stop using NS4.x is bad you ain't seen nothing yet) we will not support XHTML2, since it would break in older browsers if I am reading this correctly.

Backwards compatibility would be possible... with 2 separate template sets, one for XHTML 1 and one for XHTML 2, sent according to a detection of the browser's abilities.

This document is the first public working draft of this specification. It should in no way be considered stable, and should not be referenced for any purposes whatsoever. So what are we discussing right now? :)

Nothing.
