I was wondering if it would be possible to add the users to select their date/time format that displays accross the board? In the admin cp you can already select the date and time formats. So why not also add the ability for users to individually add their own display format? Just something I thought up recently.

Date/time format is selectable by language now.

I'm not sure I understand what you mean. I was asking if users could set their own date/time display format via the usercp. Much like admins can set the date with the options part of the current vB 2.2.x incarnation. Except it'd display just for that user, or revert to the default time format if the field was empty. I was working on a hack to do that, but then my server got DOS'd and is still recovering.

We discussed what you were asking about, but determined that most of the issues resolve around formats from around the world/different languages, so it became a language-by-language option instead of a user option.
You could easily create English (US) and English (UK) and have the respective date/time formats for each. Thus it'd be more obvious whether it was m-d-y or d-m-y.

Oh please for the love of god, please let us just select a date format. US "English" formats annoy me to the point of wanting to go postal. Reformatting a complete language file just to get around this is a real pain, not to mention outright confusing for people.

When you kill everyone on your block think of Jelsoft as your motivation... Have your admin insert different formats. That is what they are there for.

Download the current language. Upload it as a new language called English (UK). Change the date/time formats on it. Done.
Doesn't seem too difficult to me....

Please let the user choose their dates. I'm sick of middle endian dates, and you're telling me only an administrator can change it?

i honestly cant see why a user option cant be added. adding an entire new language seems like a waste of time. may as well just use the one time...
