I assume it will be coming out in a few weeks to address the bug fixes and whatnot?

There is no set date for 2.2.7.

While the vB2 bugs could be fixed one day too,
i would vote for finishing vB3 ( at least open Beta ) first.
The reasons:
1) "the end is in sight" ( vB3 open beta )
2) most ppl. who really care about bugs here, have a "fast fix" already
3) so many ppl. said already - "i will not upgrade again,
exept there will be very big security problem"
( because all the hacks must be re-installed and re-tested for compatibility again )
just my humble opinion :p

All the little upgrades have been applied manually, and if 2.2.7 will not have a security issue fixed, I will not bother to upgrade. And having said that, maybe I will .. it also depends on the templates/files that need changing.

I don't understand why so many people don't care if they have features that don't work properly on their forums. I for one, want every problem to be fixed. The sooner the better. Don't stop work on vB3 of course, but I am not in such a rush for vB 3. I want to have all my features working properly soon. I don't want to have to wait till I have the time it will take to convert to vB3. I am sure it will take me a long while too.

Since there are no problems with the forum, and only little issue's which happen 0,1% of the time, there is no need. BUt yes, I also want everything to be as perfect as possible. Manually patching will do I think. A security fix is when I think 'ok, time to upgrade the whole thing'.

There are not too many bugs left,
and there are hacks for almost every bug.
But the threaded view will come only with vB3...
Guess you dont need ( or dont REALLY need ) the threaded view...
I just hate the "flat" view and hope that i can simply disable it on my forum
( it was confirmed, that it will be possible... i hope nothing changed... )
( i buyed vB because it was the only forum software that offered the admin functions i needed,
as well as threaded view rather soon ( it had to be in Q2 from what has been said in spring when i brought the license ))

I don't see the rush in getting vB3 out. I'd rather have a fully functional, stable product than a soddy coded PHP script. I won't even be upgrading to vB3 even after the final comes out until I do a LOT of testing to it to make sure it can still do the things I need it to do with my board.
I want vB3 just as much as anyone, but I want it to the best.

Did i not read somewhere that 2.2.6 would be the last vB2 version?

And? Aren't you happy that they still care to continue development when there are complaints from users who run into issues and typo's and possible other things? I know I am.

May I please ask, what security issue is that?

There is none, xiphoid was being hypothetical. IF there WERE a security issue...

I would like all things fixed and would upgrade straight away, especially if it was small. I'd like vB3 to come out, but I won't upgrade to it right away. In fact, it might be months before I do so.

Ahhh... thanks for "translating", Chen. ;) :D :D
Security is important to me, and I would absolutely upgrade if any additional security issues were found and fixed.

Something similar happened when ikonboard developers released their iB3 public beta...all dev and support for their version 2 was pretty much dropped (but there were some, like myself who still liked version 2). I sure hope that doesn't happen here. I don't see any major reason or need to me to upgrade to vB3, atleast at this point, so I'd personally like to see my vB 2.2.6 be as good as it can be before it's 'dropped.' That way I'm not some what forced into upgrading and spending the time to redo templates etc. just to get rid of bugs.
Then again...I have yet to find any problem in my vB2.2.6 :)

vBulletin 2.2.7 will be released as an 'end of the line' version to fix any lingering problems in vB 2.2.6.
It may be released before vB 3 is in beta, or it may be released at the same time. Either way we will recommend an upgrade from 2.2.6 to either 2.2.7 or 3.0, but 2.2.7 is there for people who do not upgrade to 3.0 straight away.

Thanks, James. :)
One of the reasons I love vBulletin is how you're always seeking to improve it. I will upgrade to 2.2.7 before upgrading to 3.
If you have lots of hacks, it might not be too hard if you use Beyond Compare or Araxis... there's even a little tutorial of sorts, thanks to Nakkid... look here... http://www.vbulletin.org/forum/showthread.php?s=&threadid=38545
I bookmarked that thread, in case I ever need it. ;)

Well that is good to hear. I don't plan to upgrade to v3 until it holds the options I want, and/or the hacks I want are available for it...or I guess if I have a lot of time to kill :)

Just read the announcement
And it looks like there were a few security issues after all.
If I just follow the security changes parts of the announcement, is there really any need to upgrade to 2.2.7 as my board is far from normal ?

The cookie issue has been fixed in the 2.27. At least, it says so.
