I recive the following error when reaching step 3 of the install.php, I have definetly put in the correct details to the config.php, the only thing I am unsure about is the 'localhost'. If my database is on this server,

Database Server: server0038."my host".net

But my ftp and www r on different numbered servers, both with same company:

Server0032
Server0036

Does this mean I have to have to change localhost???

I have tried all of the following ( some of these may seem stupid but I am new to this:

Database server hostname / IP address: Local Host

Database server hostname / IP address: db."my database name".com

Database server hostname / IP address: server0038."my host".net
Database server hostname / IP address: www."my domain.com

With all of these I still et the following errors

Attempting to attach to database...

Warning: Unknown MySQL Server Host 'localhost ' (2) in /web/sites/206/"my username"www."my domain".com/forum/admin/db_mysql.php on line 40

Warning: MySQL Connection Failed: Unknown MySQL Server Host 'localhost ' (2)
in /web/sites/206/"my username"www."my domain".com/forum/admin/db_mysql.php on line 40

Warning: Supplied argument is not a valid MySQL-Link resource in /web/sites/206/"my username"www."my domain".com/forum/admin/db_mysql.php on line 40

The database has failed to connect because you do not have permission to connect to the server. Please go back to the last step and ensure that you have entered all your login details correctly.

Hello,

Could you please try posting you problem in the installation help forum? If you can't post there, please enter your username in the form located at http://www.vbulletin.com/members/forums.php (you will need your vBulletin customer number/password to access this page)

I would help you, but I want to make sure you hold a valid licence for vBulletin first. Thanks! :)

Ok, great. I'm glad you got it fixed. :)

Also, just for your reference, if you still didn't add your username to that list, it might be a good time to do it now ;)
