vBulletin versions before 2.2.6 have problems with php 4.2.x . The two most common problems reported by users are:
admin/user.php - when modifying users you receive a SQL error #1064
admin/template.php - when modifying templates the list only shows your custom templates followed by a long list of "[change original]" links.
To fix these problems you need to upgrade to vBulletin 2.2.6 (currently the latest version) which is available in the members area.
If you are running 2.2.6 and are still getting these errors then please make sure that you have overwritten all of the files with the latest 2.2.6 files.
