Have I gone mad or does this not work anymore in 2.2.6?

Okay, maybe I am mad  but that's not my great concern right now.
Have you really tried this out? because I keep clicking "update threads" but the usernames I updated still show in their old version on the front page (under last post) of my vBulletin 2.2.6 website.

My apologies. I just tested this out on my unhacked 2.2.6 test board and you're right. After changing a user's name, the 'Last post by' name on the forum home page didn't change even after updating all the counters. This would appear to be a bug.
Splitting off and moving to the Bugs forum.

If you look carefully, you will notice that the Thread Starter field isn't updated as well. It has always be like this. :)

Actually that's not true In the test I did the thread starter was updated but the 'Last post by' wasn't. (I can send you the URL if you want to see for yourself). Besides, I don't believe it's always been like that. I'm pretty sure this worked fine prior to 2.2.6.

I can confirm this, in older versions this did work!
... and now it seems it doesn't :(

what previous version did you say this works in?

I'm almost positive this worked in 2.2.4, as I believe that was the version I used when I first imported messages from my old forum software. I had to make a number of username changes and didn't experience this problem. I'm not positive if that was the version I was using though.

Seem's that you need some more poster's, so this will be changed quite faster ;) .....
Work's also fine on my 2.2.6 .

We have the same problem on our forums, and it is a little annoying if you delete a post and still see the old name at the last post part (only in category last poster, not on the thread/forum itself i believe)
Any fixes available?

It didn't, because when I didn't had 2.2.6 installed, I also noticed this, mentioned it to Chen on IRC and he said that I wasn't staring at a bug, but at a priveledge (or something like that). I just assumed I did something wrong and forgot about it.

Actually, it did work one or two versions ago, but it did not work three or four versions ago. When I first noticed this bug, I upgraded my software to the latest vBulletin version and suddenly that bug disappeared.
But a recent update must have reintroduced the bug, because now the bug is back again.:(
