Well, this is probably going to be the last upgrade for the 2.x.x series, so vbHacker would need to be re-installed for vB3.:D
Kinda ironic, isn't it?;)

another way is to use araxis. is a great tool.
i made a tutorial on how to upgrade your board in less then 30min. you can view it here (http://www.vbulletin.org/forum/showthread.php?s=&threadid=38545).
i also noticed that vbhacker dont always work 100%. that's unfortunate because the idea is great.

We will not be distributing vBHacker files for upgrading. In vB 3, there should be a better way of upgrading but you will still need to re-hack your PHP files during an upgrade.

Yes, they do if they want it. They are not required to install it. My board is still on 2.2.5 as well.

It is very heavily hacked (though you wouldn't know it by looking at the frontend ;)) and security fixes have been applied. I won't be upgrading now until vB 3.

Beyond Compare 2.0. Get it. Know it. Love it.
You can look at my forums and tell they have been hacked and modified to the dogs, and I am running 2.2.6 now. Beyond Compare was the difference. Lot easier than Araxis IMHO too:)

Ease of use is a balancing act compared to possibilities. I've used both and yes, BC is easier, but not quite as powerfull. They're both excellent.

I do not use third party software to upgrade, oh I do ;) Just UltraEdit, because notepad.exe limits me :) (multiple files open) - But I do not use compare software, takes too long. Reading the code is where I learn from and which lets me show what needs to be changed and converted. I haven't found an upgrade that took me longer then 12 minutes. But then again. I do not hack everything I see. I hate overkill. And everything that I want is already mostly avaiable for change through the template system.
