I know how many people love signatures, but I think there should be an option based per user/member of the forum, whether they would like to see signatures while viewing the board or not. A "on/off" feature to show sigs in their CP Panel.
What do you think? (same can go with avatars?)

http://www.vbulletin.com/forum/member.php?s=&action=editoptions :
Show user's signatures in their posts?
Show user's avatar in their posts?
Show image attachments and [img] code in Posts?
Or did I misunderstand what you're looking for?

Why that's called for, I'm not sure, If people's signatures/avatars are so bad they need to be ignored, it's better to set some rules concerning what those items may consist of, like the Team has done here.

Exactly. But its to the forums moderators/admins to decide that, but for a normal user, they may not want to see a signautre of a member (im not a he btw)

I think he means the option that phpBB2 and WBB2 etc. have: every user can turn signatures (and images, avatars etc.) on and off in the user cp - so if I don't want to see all the signatures I can simply turn them off and everyone else can see them normally...

Ed answered that, it's been in vB for since at least 2.2.0...

Oops, yes, I see it here... sorry, I'm running a 2.0.3 board without that so I have simply not noticed that new feature ;)

http://www.vbulletin.org/forum/showthread.php?s=&threadid=38952 Uh.. What real difference is using that hack vs letting the users set their own preferences? I mean, I know some people are incapable of setting those options, but really, a hack? There can't be that many that are so helpless.

The hack disallows anyone from viewing the sig and/or avatar of a user in certain usergroup(s), as set by the admin. It's a side-step around a full-blown per-usergroup setting "Can have sig" and "can have avatar" (not that there's anything wrong with doing it this way :)).

If you want a quick example I don't want you to be able to view the avatars and signatures of banned users so i turn the avatar and signatures off for their usergroup. I don't want regular users to have avatars so i turn it off for that usergroup.
Though they still have the ability to set their signature and avatar in the usercp just it won't be shown.

That's kind of nifty.
