I'm trying to decide wether to have one of my servers act as a web server and the other act as a db server. My other choice is to put the entire vb on one server.

One machine is a dual 650 mhz with 1/2 gig of ram. It has the html for my site as well as a few scripts such as free home page building and classified ads. It won't be under a very heavy load if I put the full vb on the other machine. The second machine is a dual 750 mhz with 1 gig of ram. This machine will be used soley for the forums.

I think that we get a traffic load that will push the limits of the second machine. so my question is this:

Would I be better off using the less loaded first machine as a web server and the second as a db server or will the time lapse between the two outweigh any possible gains?

Well, after talking with my hosting company, I've decided to go with a private network between the two machines. That should eliminate any latency problems.

Wish me luck. ;)
