I am in the midst of changing the layout/colors of my forum. I do not use multiple styles, however, I would like to create one which is not visible for non-admin to switch too, so I can 'play' with some different color schemes. Can someone point me to a thread that explains how to create a new style that is for admin use only, but will not affect the current default style? Thanks in advance.

Unfortunately you can't do this - at least not completely. What you can do is:

1. Create a new style set and make it non-user seletectable.
2. Create a new privtae forum that only Admins can view. (You may need to set individual Mod permissions to 'No' for that forum.
3. Edit this forum so that it Style Options are set to force use of this new style.

This will let you see the style when you view the forum. However you won't be able to view how this style looks in your forum home page unless you make it user selectable.

I've tried what you said, Steve, but even when i edit the new style, it seems to be changing the properties of the default style... i've set my moderator forum so that it should show up in the new style (test), and overrides user styles, however, the entire page seems to be adapting to the test style after i edit it. Any idea?

Make sure the 'properties' of the new style are not pointing to the 'Default' Replacement and/or Template sets. IMO it's best to have each style use it's own R&T sets.

One more quick question Steve-O... if I decide to make my new style into my 'default' style, whats the best way to do that? If I delete my default style, will the other one automatically become deafault?? Thanks

No, do not delete the Default style. The best way to do this is to go into the Default style properties and point them to use the new Style's Replacement and Template sets.

Differences between 'Replacement Set' and 'Template Set' ??

Style set = Replacement set + Template set.

They're pretty self-explanatory - the Template set are the actual templates vB uses to display its pages, while the Replacement set includes all the definable variables. Just take a look at these in the Admin CP and it'll become clearer.
