they delay the release because the devs are still testing various server scenarios and configs. (i think)

HM You would prefer your host to upgrade to PHP4.2.0 and vBulletin not work in certain places or they upgrade to PHP4.2.1 (out soon) and it stops working entirely since you cannot turn register globals on in PHP4.2.1?

you're missing the point of this release. and hacks aren't jelsoft's problem, they are yours.

I didn't say it was their problem. Just merely expressing my elation over the thought of having to do it again.
Any idea what sort of security fixes?

We don't release detailed info about security problems for obvious reasons. Here's the announcement on this issue:

Thank you Smachol.
So, assuming I upload db_mysql.php, and don't use PHP4.2, I have no need to do the full 2.2.6 upgrade just yet?

There are other bugs fixed in 2.2.6, not only security fixes / PHP compatibility.

There was mention of PHP4.2.1 (when available) rendering vBulletin usuable due to the need for register_globals. Will the .6 release help with this, or should we hope v3 is out prior to PHP4.2.1? :D

Any idea what sort of security fixes? they cant go into detail (well, i dont think so anyway), otherwise people may try to exploit the bug on boards where admins havn't upgraded.

Heh, Kevin, that was, like, way over on the other page. You seriously expect us to have an attention-span worth talking about? :p
Which reminds me, yes, this is off-topic, but there was that attention-span.... Will v3 let us select separate post-listings per forum, ie, one with 25 posts per page, while the other has no page-breaks. Or is that already possible? If so, indulge me. I've only found one setting, that's board-wide. Same goes for # of threads per page..Which leads me to believe this isn't the case now, but will be in v3?
(You may pummel me with the rubber-hammers for going off-topic now)
