Hi,

I want to make one forum only visible to all moderators, admins and one usergroup. I changed all settings like it is described in the manuel, but every time the changes in the forumsettings are taking affect - not the changings in the user permission area.

Here is what I did:

A private forum – to make a private forum, you want certain people to be able to view it and post to it. These certain people might include a selection of the standard registered members and the administrators.

That is the exact example, I need. The quotes are from the manual.

Firstly, I would create a new user group to contain the registered members who are able to view this forum.
Add the necessary people to this group.

Done!

Create the new forum and then go back into user groups area and add 'forumpermission's for the registered and unregistered groups as well as the 'awaiting moderation / email verification' groups, setting all the fields to no.

Okay, that is waht I checked in the forums-area for the forum:
Forum Enabled (i.e. can be viewed)
Yes

Allow posting/editing
No

Display Order
4

Moderator Queue
(Require moderator validation before new threads are displayed)
No

Private forum
(Invisible to all except moderators and admins)
No

And that is what I have added to the forumspermission for the registered and not-loggedin persons:

Can View Board
No

Can Search
No

Can Use 'email to friend' feature
No

Can Post New Threads
No

Can Reply
No

Can Do Admin Edits
(this includes editing any post, editing thread title and notes, opening and closing any thread)
No

Can Can Edit Own Posts
No

Can Delete Own Posts and Threads
No

Can Open / Close own threads
No

Can Move threads to other forums
No

Okay, but even if I´m not logged in, I can see the forum. That means, that the changes in the user permission area doesn´t take affect.

Does anybody know, what I can do ?

Thx, daniel

Options->hideprivateforums = yes
:)
And if they can't access the forum, it's not a big deal if they can see it IMO.
