There have already been several threads with discussions about banners with vBulletin.

Anyway, I haven't found the bottom line to it, yet.
phpAdsNew seems to be in use, but I tried it and it sometimes (1:15) it does not diplay the banner, but does count it as view - inaceptable. (Or I'm doing someting wrong)

eva2000 and Ramses, you have used dot-banner. Does it work ok? Have you by now moved on to another management tool or are you currently using it?

Is there another freeware tool out there someone is working with extensivly?

Thanx

well for me i stopped using phpads, cause i thought it was the cause of my MySQL problems which it wasn't.. and no i haven't purchased wanderer's dot-banner product yet - the price jumped a fair bit now that it's went through a few versions and added functionality ...

I like dot-banner's look and demo as it is fairly similar to the way webadverts is used i think.

Another one i have thought of using is Adcycle.com which is a free perl/mysql solution - but i have heard mixed results about it's server resources used.

Dot-banner is good to start with and i maybe purchasing it for one of my new non-anime sites once it's developed. But it doesn't hurt looking into other more commercial ad management solutions, both hosted and out sourced for the future :)

Hello,

I went through this dilema recently myself. I went out and spent the money on http://www.thruport.com 's Ajuggler 4.1 for $1495

It is awesome. I ran about 3 ads per page on a 5 million page views a month site. That's over 15 million impressions a month and it bearly puts a dent in the server.

Using Java Servlets it keeps on consistant MySQL connection. If you use Advert Pro or any other MySQL based product...you increase your MySQL calls significantly. I think each banner call is around 2 to 3 MySQL connections per banner.

With my sites heavy usage, and already using VB on the site with MySQL, I couldn't afford the slow down on the server.

So I went out and spent the money on the Adjuggler 4.1 system. It was well worth it. It is expensive I know...but the speed of it is truly awesome.

One thing I don;t like about the Ajuggler system is that you cannot have multiple campaigns per user account. This means that if you have to have multiple campaigns...you need to create multiple accounts for that advertiser. This means the advertiser will need to have more than one login. It is kinda silly.

I think they are adding campaigns in the future.

I hope this helps.

Advertrpo says they have a fastcgi version that was tested to serve over 30 million impressions per month.
