I regularly post to the Straight Dope Message Board ( and they suggested that I come here and post my question directly to you.
I have a question concerning the search function. Why is it that we can't see certain things when we're searching that we can see on the regular forum listings? For instance, the exact time of the last post and the SN of the last poster is always labeled in forum listings but never in the search option where it would be most helpful.
Often times I search for my own SN so I can see what's been posted since I last visited the forum. This is difficult to do because the search function doesn't tell me when the last post was made.
A suggestion given to me was to have an option that allows you to search for all threads that have been updated since the last time you accessed the search function, or the last time you accessed the forum. Is this a possibility?
If you're looking to save space, or have the computer save time accessing the information, I think you can trade out one piece of information for the other. The creator of the thread is not usually of great importance to me when I'm searching. Perhaps that can be exchanged for the exact time of the latest update.
Thank you very much for your consideration in this matter.
