I would like to see a few changes to the member database/user profile.


One of the things was regularly requested (and ignored) on the UBB support forum was for users to be able to add new fields as they see fit - eg I might add a field for favourite class of motorsport. Is this possible ?

Oh, and the ability to use vbulletin's userbase for other external applications

I'll take these all into consideration for the next major release of vBulletin. In fact, the link to last post in profile was already on my to do list.

Can you make some more detailed suggestions about using vBulletin's userbase in other applications. I would like some feedback from people before I begin thinking about doing it.

It would be nice enough, John, if you just include detailed database docs in the registered version. Then most of users will be able to smoothly “pull” and re-use the data as needed... :cool:

That's a good idea. I am looking to increase the documentation overall, and the the templates in particular, so that can be one more thing to add to the list.

yeah, database use for other programs would rules, since I'm trying to make my site generated in php :)
just think of the possibilitys

You can already use the User database for external programs. The infomation is already there in a table, just update the other programs queries etc to use this info.

Nothing has to be changed :P
