We considering switching to qmail from sendmail. Our forums our humming along find with sendmail--this is to enable us to add a ezmlm-idx mailing list.
Does anyone know of a document that deals with this? Any pitfalls? I haven't found any useful HOWTO either. And the qmail documentation also doesn't look to address it. I've seen numerious messages here on sendmail problems and also wonder just how hard this will be.

I can't really answer your question properly as I've never done it however what I will say is that if you need to test something like this out- do it on a dev enviroment - an old 486 or something with the same OS - don't start messing with your MTA if you aren't 100%

do yourself a favor and go get the qinstall package, it's free, under the gpl license, it installs qmail, vpopmail, ezmlm, daemontools, ucspi-tcp, qmailadmin, and sqwebmail. I tried for a week trying to get either sendmail or qmail setup with no luck what so ever. I happened to come across this program and had a turn key email server with virtual domain support, web based administration for adding users, I don't use sqwebmail, I like Horde and IMP, but you can edit the install file before ya run it and turn sqwebmail off if ya want. The package is Qinstall 1.1 and you can find it at www.obua.org
