Hello . my question is this, we have v bulletin instaled on http://www.cdrforum.com , the problem is when we get over 45-50 online users the forum slows down to a crawl, over 60 and it crashes, any tips on why this happens ? we monitored the server and it appears that it uses all avalible ram.. please help a newbie out here !! :D

You may want to read the threads in the server configuration section - I had the same problem and thanks to optimization and indexing from Chris in there, I can easily handle over 100 users at once!

First, upgrade to vB 1.1.4 - you'll get some nice speed increases from that.
Then, I suggest you head over to the Server Config or MySQL forums and ask for help there :D

Yes the default MySQL values will handle up to about 40 users... anything over that and you will need to edit some MySQL parameters... just browse the MySQL/Server Config forums for an idea of what kind of information to post (current settings, machine setup, etc...) and I can help you out from there.

-Chris just a suggestion chris, why no make it a guideline to post server settings on their first post in the server config forum, or have it as an announcement for the server config forum :)
