replication--what if master is down

I have 4 machine on which 3 are running on RedHat Linux box 7.1 and 1 runs in RedHat Linux box 6.2. I successfully done replication on the two machine having 7.1. Since my boss wanted to make the 6.2 machine the master and the other running on 7.1 be the slave. I know thats possible. 3 machine listening on 1. My problem now is what if the master went down how will i be able to tell one of the slave to step up as a master?Do you have any idea how to make this work?
