Hi,
I have several questions that I would appreciate an answer to
1) When importing UBB Members, after inporting 208 users exactly (out of about 2,500) I receive the following error:
Importing members...
Instructions will appear at the bottom of this page telling what to do when this is done
There seems to have been a slight problem with the database. Please try again by pressing the refresh button in your browser.
An E-Mail has been dispatched to our Technical Staff, who you can also contact if the problem persists.
We apologise for any inconvenience.
The e-mail itself says:
Database error in vBulletin Control Panel: Invalid SQL: SELECT title FROM usertitle WHERE minposts<= ORDER BY minposts DESC LIMIT 1
mysql error: You have an error in your SQL syntax near 'ORDER BY minposts DESC LIMIT 1' at line 1
mysql error number: 1064

Can you please advise me what to do about this?
2) I don't want to display on the main forums page the total number of members and the last registered member (the information on the to right hand side). Can you please advise me how I can get rid of this?
3) I also don't want to display the number of posts under the username and status of the poster's name (next to his post). How do I get rid of this?
4) Is there a way for me to move the User Info Icons from the bottom of his\her post to the top (as it appears in UBB)?
5) Even though I set "usehotthreads" to No, it still shows at the bottom the Hot Thread icons as an indication -- how do I get rid of that?
That's it for now :)
Thank you,
Bira

Well as far as the visual aspects you mentioned (2-5), they can be edited from the templates.

Yes, I figured it out a tad too late, sorry about that :)
However problem 1 remains unchanged, and I have a couple more to add:
1) the template for $pagenav is missing which means I cannot edit it (and I have a small problem with it, because it defines it with table header text class, which in my case is white, however I changed its location so now it's on a white background...)
2) When importing threads, in some cases the order of the messages got messed up (ie, message #3 in a thread now appears after message #5)
3) There seems to be a problem with imposting messaged that had [quote] in them -- you now get the raw <blockquote> html in the message.
Thanks,
Bira

Ok, I uploaded the vblatest files from the members area and then tried running the import of members again. This time it went all the way to 1,100 when it stopped with the same message, only this time the e-mail error message read:
Database error in vBulletin Control Panel: Invalid SQL: SELECT title FROM usertitle WHERE minposts<=11 ORDER BY minposts DESC LIMIT 1
mysql error: MySQL client run out of memory
mysql error number: 2008

What's the story? We have a very powerful dedicated server, memory is the last thing we're missing :(

It all seems immensely random. This time, I managed to import the members, but can't import the posts. It stops a few and sends me this message:
Database error in vBulletin Control Panel: Invalid SQL: SELECT username FROM user WHERE userid=752
mysql error:
mysql error number: 0

Are you on your own server where you can access the variables for mySQL? Or are you on a hosted server and do not have access?
It seems that most of the problems are related to the mySQL memory or limits.

Martin,
This is our server (dedicated). If you tell me what to do, I will do it (I am fairly ignorant about such stuff so please don't take any command for granted).
Thanks

what type of OS are you using? Unix/Linux or NT?
also, what versions of mySQL and PHP?
I've made *every* mistake in setting this up, so I guess that makes me a sort of an expert by proxy ;)

Martin,
Thanks - I appreciate your help.
We are running BSDi BSD/OS 4.0.1 with PHP 3.0.12 and MySQL 3.22.32 and 3.22.27 (for some reason we got them both, heh).
Hope that information helps.
Thanks,
Bira
p.s.
By the way, I can't seem to find a "post reply" link or icon anywhere on this thread. All the messages I've posted here were done by clicking on a "reply w/quote" icon and then deleting the quote, heh.

"By the way, I can't seem to find a "post reply" link or icon anywhere "
They are just to the right, scroll over ----> and look in the blue table row:) It does that because of the no spaces or breaks in your error code:)

Well, you're running the latest stable release of mySQL. You should upgrade to PHP 4RC2, too. Most of my problems on NT cleared up when I switched to PHP 4 RC2.
I really don't know much about BSD, so I can't tell you anything about conflicts there.
What are your server specs? Mine is a Dual PIII 600 with 512 MB, so I set up my configs like this:
mySQL:
[mysqld]
set-variable = key_buffer=128M
set-variable = max_allowed_packet=1M
set-variable = thread_stack=128K
set-variable = flush_time=1800
set-variable = max_connections=1000
set-variable = record_buffer=2M
set-variable = sort_buffer=8M
set-variable = table_cache=128
In NT it's done in a "my.cnf" file stored at the root. I don't know what the equivalent is in BSD, but I'm sure there is one.
In my PHP.INI file, I have it set to use 16Mb max.
Of course, this is the only site we're going to host on this server, so you may have to adjust the numbers down for yours if you have less memory or more sites.
I hope this helps. I hope someone who knows more about BSD pops in, too:)

Bira,
did upgrading to PHP 4 help out?

well it's definitely a memory thing.
When I tried running small cycle increments (of 50 and in some cases 20 threads at a time) the import worked fine. I was monitoring the memory free during the process and there were points when it was close to zero... :(
So I'm gonna add more RAM (we have dual cpu but only 256mb sdram) on this occasions.
By the way, these are the only problems I've discovered after import of UBB, if anyone's interested:
1) the time for posts and threads is wrong. In some cases, posts now have a time into the future :)
2) this also had an effect in some (though only a few) threads, whereby the order of the posts went wrong. Post #3 now appears after post #5 etc.
3) posts that included a previous post quote (the reply w/quote feature) were now turned into raw HTML, whereby the <blockquote></blockquote> codes appear.
4) Threads that were closed are now openned.
5) in Forums which had two moderators only one moderator was "transferred". the second one was not.
6) the moderators were only transferred if they were also amdinistrators on the UBB forum. If their title there was "moderator" then they were stripped of that category and the forum they moderated appears without a moderator.
And while I'm submitting this report (heh): There is no "Visited Link" field in the Style Options (can be changed manually in the stylesheet and body fields though).
No big deal, really. The only thing that is keeping me from doing the full switch from the UBB to this are the "show all threads" bug and the memory upgrade I plan. The latter will be fixed tomorrow. When will the former by fixed by you guys? :)

This has to do with the way the mods are put in the boxes on UBB. I had experienced it, too, but I had some forums where the mods were side by side and some where they were on top of each other and on one of the 2 all mods were pulled over.
I was going to look to see which was which and make them all the same before I did my final import.
I didn't experience the closed bug because I don't close forums. If I need to close them I just delete. If I move them, I just move them (though I rarely do that) an don't leave a copy behind.

bira,
I have just read through this thread and tried to follow it. Have all your support queries been answered?

John,
Thank you for asking. Like I said, the errors were related
to a lack of memory on my server's side. When I ran the
import at the wee-hours of the night with the UBB board
shut down, it went smoothly (bar a few glitches here and
there, which I listed above FYI).
However, I am currently extremely frustrated about other
matters. Closed threads being opened in the import doesn't
bother me - I can fix that. But the whole password issue
has me screaming with anguish. I thought I'd be able to
make the switch to vB by tomorrow and finally ditch UBB,
but I guess not yet :(
Please have a look at:
http://www.vbulletin.com/forum/showthread.php?threadid=442
and at:
http://www.vbulletin.com/forum/showthread.php?threadid=440
As soon as those two are resovled, I'm kissing UBB bye-bye! :)

No, what was posted on this:
3) posts that included a previous post quote (the reply w/quote feature) were now turned into raw HTML, whereby the <blockquote></blockquote> codes appear.
This still happens quite frequently. Any suggestions please?
