Vb is very simple to install.
Vb is very difficult to backup & to restore.
Why? If I can't do a copy I can't work!
I've read 100 threads and it's not clear if it' possible to backup and restore with phpMyadmin.
I tried, ma there was alway errors in restore.
I've not telnet.
I've to change isp?

PhpMyadmin will backup small databases with ease, but you will run up against the max execution time for php if you have a large database. You could then change the execution time in the php.ini file, but not if you are on a shared server most likely.
Telnet is really the best way for me. :)

I also forgot to mention that the upcoming 2.0 release is supposed to have a backup utility in the control panel.

If you have telnet access, you can use this script for automatic backups: http://www.vbulletin.com/forum/showthread.php?threadid=4256
