View Full Version : Increased vBulletin Performance with APC

When I scrolled through pages on the Internet on a particular day, I was induced to examine this PHP caching software that claims to work just as well as Zend Accelerator—and thus I downloaded it. Having tried the new PHP extension, I noticed a substantial increase of speed in the loading of pages. This miracle pill is Alternative PHP Caching (“APC”), which installs just like a Zend module.

Jelsoft vBulletin now takes a mere two seconds to load completely on my browser now. It’s an amazing product, and I behoove all of whom to install APC. It can be downloaded at the Universal Resource Locator (“URL”) http://apc.communityconnect.com/.

Whereby, in the event that one’s Personal Home Page tools (“PHP”) installation is version number 4.0.5 or greater, you should install the Concurrent Versioning System (“CVS”) revision to maintain mutual compatibility with later PHP versions.

Having installed PHP Accelerator--well--it does just what it sounds like! Excellent addition to PHP. Zend module makes it easy to install--I strongly recommend you install this one... Thanks eva!

i think you'll find PHP Accelerator will be better than APC cache.. i've tried all of them with memory leaks only Zend Cache and PHP Accelerator didn't leak and provided superior optimisation http://vbulletin.com/forum/showthread.php?s=&threadid=40601

Does PHP really stand for Personal Home Page? How disappointing.

I was thinking something like Pretty Hot Programming would be cool. :D

But is that what it really stands for?

Of the legal variety of course. The real test will be when the whole new system goes online with the content manager and all those goodies I've been cooking up.

JJR512,

When it was first created, PHP stood for "Personal Home Page" Tools. However, PHP has grown well beyond the personal home page realm, and the original meaning no longer applies. The name "PHP" now stands on its own; it also means "Hypertext Preprocessor."

Are you still using the Zend Cache Matt? Any idea how it compares in real life to phpAccelerator? I see Zend have chopped their price to just under $1000. It's almost affordable now. :)

We switched from the Zend Cache to the Zend Accelerator. Has given us no problems since we had it. The Zend Accelerator was a free upgrade from the Zend Cache. It has a really cool admin interface, but if the performance was the same between the Zend Cache and the APC cache (with the same stability) I'd take the APC cache since I don't ever really look at the admin interface.

PHP stands for "PHP Hypertext Preprocessor". And the first PHP in this stands for "Persontal Home Page" (I think)...

GameCrash means that at first, PHP stood for Personal Homepage Tools.
