Will v3 of vBulletin solve some of the "corrupt" cookie problems that tend to pop up relating to "can't log out" or "can't log in?" This isn't a horrible issue since there are step-by-step instructions to correct it.

I've only had issue with it a few times and quickly dealt with it. But this must be very confusing and frustrating for users who think that they're doing something wrong. And even if they are, the system should gracefully correct itself without outside assistance or user action.

Also, what do I tell my users who access my system from "locked down" machines? This would include public machines at universities that have effectively prevented users from browsing such areas.

Personally I have never gotten a corrupt cookie from a vBulletn. Just my experience though.

At any rate it is not vBulletin that is corrupting the cookie, as that is (as far as I know) impossible. Rather it is the browser (IE is a major culprit, as is NS4.x) which corrupts cookies sometimes...not sure why, I don't think anyone is, but it's not something that we can fix from this end.

As to your users in locked-down areas, they can try browsing without cookies but if that doesn't work, there is nothing you or they can do - their system is doing its' job in keeping them away from your site, which for whatever reason, whether its' your site in particular or not, their IT department doesn't want them accessing.
