People still reported not being able to log in.
So, I cleared my cookie and register a new user.
The registration went ok, got my pw emailed to me.
If I go and try to post a message, I get the not logged in in message and I enter the user name and password and it just wont let me log in that way.
Then I clicked back to the index.php page and noticed that I was cookied.
If I use the profile link to login first its ok. If I use the login on the index page, its ok. But the one on the post message page is a no go.

I have just had a long play with Netscape 4.72 and IE 5.01 to try and find the problem, and I came up with nothing. What browsers are causing the problems? Also, are you sure that you enabled your account by following the link to validate your account, in the email.
When you upgraded to 1.1.2, did you get the new standarderror and error_nopermission template from the members area? If not, try getting them too.

No that works, but if you try to post without doing that it won't work.
A lot of people do it that way as its set so they enter the user and pass and they figure they can go in and post right away without checking the email since they know the user and pass.
The post new thread not logged in log in screen seems to the the only problem. As I said, I can log in at the bottom of the index page ok, but most ppl dont see that right away and try to post right after registering,
I have netscape BTW. Have not trieed on IE yet.

Which version of Netscape are you running?
I didn't quite understand the rest of your reply - are the users following the link sent to them in their email to activate their account? If not, then they will not be able to post until they do.

I have 4.72, the latest
I meant that if you did not click on the activate link in the email and tried to log in from the post new reply screen, it wont work. However, if you click on the profile link or the main page log in you can post without clicking on the link in the email.?
Why is the activation link necessary? Some people natuarally miss it and wonder why their newly chosen user and pass wont work. Is there a way to show it on the thanks for registering screen?

You can turn that feature off in the control panel if you do not want it. Look for the verifyemail option.
