Hello Everyone,

My forum consists mostly of poets and I am wanting to provide a category where they can upload .wav files, sort of an "open mic" kind of place. Am I asking for trouble? Can MySQL handle this? The files are going to be relatively large (2-5 MB). Currently MySQL's default setting is prohibiting them from uploading large files but I intend on changing this if I don't see any reason not to. The small files they've been uploading so far aren't causing any problems.

I've searched the forum and don't see a lot regarding sound files. Any advice, suggestions, warnings would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Destee

it could handle it for a while but would eventually cause problems for your server/mysql

it's not a matter of the file type but size... i suggest you use an separate script for storing these larges files check hotscripts.com out for something

Thanks Eva,

PPN has created this hack (http://www.vbulletin.org/forum/showthread.php?s=&threadid=34338) and it seems to do what you're suggesting. This means I've got to upgrade to vb 2.2.2 but I'd rather wait until a more significant upgrade comes along. Any hints on how soon that will be? :)

Thanks again.
