Unless I'm missing something, the readme.txt file seems to be incredibly light (lite?) on installation instructions.

For instance, what sub-directores should you set-up on your host, and where should the files be uploaded?

The installation instructions refer to running install.php in the following directory:

http://www.yourhost.com/vblite

which would seem to suggest that you should create a sub-directory on you host called vblite and upload the contents of the "lite package php3\upload" directory (from the zip file) in there.

But when you're running the install routine, the default value for where your forums reside is:-

http://www.yourhost.com/forums

Do I need to manually create this directory?

Does this mean that the directory for the installation files and the dorectory where your forums go should be separate? Or can I put them all in the same one?

I've managed to install vb and then came across an error. But without knowing whether I've done things right, I'm reluctant to bother you with the details of that error at this stage.

As an aside, I've seen lots of posts regarding the missing ';' character in global.php3, and more posts saying how tired people are of seeing the same thing posted time and again.

I was amazed to discover the same error in the zip file I downloaded - only two days ago! Surely this should have been corrected in the zip file by the powers-that-be - or am I missing something here too?

OK, I think I understand the directory thing having looked at http://www.vbulletin.com/manual/install.html

Although there is no step 9 (add an adminstrator); I assume this refers to the full version.

I still get my error so I'll post details of it in a new thread.
