W2k, IIS5, PHP4 (latest release), MySQL (latest beta).

I tried to run a test PHP script....OK
I tried to play around with MySQL and connect to dbs....OK
I checked config.php. Seems to be OK.
I checked several times my permissions (MySQL installation is on FAT32 drive) on NTFS (WebRoot) drive....OK (CGI scripts run correctly)

Here's the problem:

When I try to open install.php it repeats. I simply click on the link to get to the step 2 but no changes visible. The screen is same. No errors occured.

My server is running on the intranet so I'm unable to post the URL. :-(

I'd be grateful for ANY help which can point me to find a solution. Thx in advance.

I tried to rename config.php, then I ran install.php and it doesn't send any error message in the step 2.

Any ideas?

All I know is that I have the same setup and the exact same problem.

I sure wish some vB staff would help us out here. I don't think I'll be spending money on a product that is unsupported.

I also wish you'd use the search. You'll find that it's a PHP config issue.

I did use the search issue, but having not know what the issue relates to, how was I supposed to search for "PHP config" ?

I'm not trying to sound irrate here, but its just that I posted this question several days ago, and you didn't respond until you thought I insulted the staff of vB.

Update: I just got done searching under "PHP Config" and went through 3 pages of results, and didn't find the answer.

If you please be so kind as to explain or point to a vB thread with the answer to my question.

I apologize for sounding abrupt earlier.

Well, I read this thread many times. Still unable to resolve the problem. I am a newbie in MySQL and beginner in PHP so I would really appreciate any help. I won't buy a product if I have to wait days or even weeks for some hints.

As you can read in the thread mentioned above:

it was a permissions issue with php....win2000 has a new permissions system that had me confused i guess...i really dont know how he managed to fix it so easily, but he said it was a permissions issue and was caused by php not being able to pass variables. once james finally put me in touch with him (won't unfairly disclose name) he was amazing.

I don't think this help us much. Local perms or IIS5 perms? Changes in php.ini? Pass variables? Well, where to set it up correctly? Maybe James could tell us what he set up and share his experiences. :-)
I would be really disappointed if I am forced to move back to UBB just because of one problem. VBulletin is indeed great product.

I'll try to get it run on NT4 with the same config. I'll post results.
