Have you hacked usergroup.php at all?
Alternatively try upgrading to 2.2.2.

Ok, this took me awhile but....

I did a complete FRESH install of VB 2.2.2 , and have no hacks in usergroup.php at all, and just went to update the non registered users information and again got this error message...

What's the URL to your forums? Also you might want to fill out an official support request at:

http://www.vbulletin.com/members/support.php

Be sure to include the info to access your Admin CP, phpMyAdmin and FTP.

Actually because you have hacked your forum (with vBPortal) there's not really anything Support can do to help you. You can try uninstalling the hack first, but I belive that's a difficult thing to do with vBPortal because of changes to the db. You can also try asking for help on the vBPortal forums. Good luck!

thanks again ....

guess I'll just let it go then....it was this way before the vbportal hack, but it's not a major problem, for anyone but me LOL
