Philadelphia is the 4th fattest... but we improved over last year's ranking:

With apologies to Rocky, Philadelphia is fighting hard to get out of the heavyweight division. Mayor John Street has made fitness a basic feature of his administration with an impressive array of programs. And where a loss is a gain, Philadelphians scored better this year in the overweight/sedentary lifestyle category. In sports participation/exercise, the city scored in the middle of the pack, which helped its overall standing. Philadelphia ranks in the bottom 10 percent for health food stores and also for fitness centers, but saw a decline in their record number of pizza parlors, giving up first place honors to New York. While continuing to improve their overall score, Philadelphians still watch too much TV and get downgraded for smoking. Stricter smoking regulations supported by the mayor are in the works, and his city needs them -- Philly has the highest incidence of lung cancer of all 50 cities.
